Opened on January 1st, 2480, The Mat Club is the seventh and newest official Professional Fighting Venue in the Inner City. Having been granted Death Fight Status by the Green Tower City Council, it opened it's doors on January 1st, 2480 with a spectacularly violent 16 girl elimination tournament during which many old feuds were settled for good.
Fights here are held on a large tan fighting mat which is typically cleaned of blood and other bodily fluids between fights by Mat Girls. With a capacity of 50,000 spectators, it is by far the largest venue in the Inner City. (Not counting the Colosseum.) Under the venue is a network of tunnels leading to comfortable quarters for the fighters. Unlike other venues that typically have elimination tournaments over the course of one to three days maximum, the Mat Club holds special tournaments with plenty of time between each round for the fighters to rest up. Girls who sign up for tournaments here are sequestered in their own private quarters where they can rest, relax, and train for the next bout. The first tournament, for instance, took place over the course of several weeks.
