The Slums

The Slums refers to the most desolate part of The Outer City.  The area is not patrolled by City Moderators at all and is considered very dangerous.  The giant husks of the abandoned Terra Forming machines dominate the skyline of the area, which is fenced off from Suburbia to the North and the slightly less dangerous Outer City on the South.

The Slums are inhabited by a wide assortment of down on their luck fighting girls who have failed in one way or another to break into any fighting circuit.  Many of them are those who last their Initiation Fights at The Wall and are permanently exiled from the Inner City.  They are able to cover the LOSER tattoos on their stomachs with make up, but they cannot prevent the DNA scanners at the entrances to the fabled Inner City from recognizing their identity and status as losers.

The girls of the Slums form into one of several gangs.  Unlike Academy, they join the gangs of their choice for a wide variety of reasons and are not divided by air color or race.  The gangs do however wear matching panties.

Though there are a large number of smaller gangs who have carved themselves out small territories, the main ones group around the abandoned Terra Forming husks and are listed below:

The Rose Hill Gang wear pink panties and inhabit the area around the northeast Terra Former.

The Baby Blues wear light blue, and inhabit the Terra Former directly South of them.

The Sunshine Gang wear light yellow panties and live in the Eastern most Terra Former,

The Floral Girls is the largest of the gangs, and tends to attract all the weakest fighters from all over, who gather here together or strength in numbers, though bitter rivalries do spring up within the gang from time to time.   They inhabit the massive North Central Terra Former and control the largest and most isolated section of The Slums, though the other major gangs make incursions into their territory from time to time.

In the early 2400s an extremely violent gang war that eventually pulled in every gang in the Slums killed so many girls that it resulted in a major bottleneck in the population of the region and for nearly ten years the region fell into a desolate and eerily quiet time called "The Quiet Time."   Since that time the feuds have been settled with organized death matches in a form of game like warfare with unwritten but mostly respected codes of conduct.  These fights take place over territory acquisition mostly, but sometimes just out of sheer hatred.

From time to time outside fighters enter the Slums looking for a challenge.  A common Senior Academy hazing ritual is for the Freshman girl to head into the Slums alone and return with the panties of a Slum Gang Girl she has killed in combat.  As one would expect, many of them don't return.

Jungle Girls are also known to stray into the Slums looking for easy kills, or to take on whole squads of Gang Girls.  The more they can kill the more prestige they get upon returning to their own tribes.

And of course, though the great majority of the girls in the Slums are not great fighters outside of the Slums, improvement does sometimes take place, and many girls have managed to hoe their skills enough to break out of the Slums and at least make a career for themselves in the Outer City.   Many simply leave and barely eke out a living as jobbers who lose most of their fights, Alyssa being a good example of one of these, but still others end up being dangerous brawlers, such as Mandi.
