STIMS

“Stims” is shorthand for Stimulants, which are illegal performance enhancement drugs.  It is almost impossible to get away with using them in the Inner City, where most venues are equipped with highly advanced scanning equipment that will detect their presence in a fighter’s system, but they are used frequently in the Outer City, and especially in The Slums.  Penalties for being caught using Stims range from fines all the way up to having one’s entire pro fighting record scrubbed and banishment from fighting venues. Occasionally special Stim Grudge Fights are set up where both fighters agree to take an equal and pre-determined amount of stims before the fight.  Stims typically effect the nervous system, preventing a fighter from getting tired, being knocked out, or even preventing them from feeling pain, which can be extremely dangerous for both their opponent and themselves.
